I am writing this letter to you so as to inform you as to my concern over the possibility of renewed attacks on the 2nd Amendment. As reaffirmed by the Supreme Court, this right does pertain the the rights of the individual gun owner. As a member of the NRA, we as an organization, watch the voting records of all our elected officials and make sure that the voting records are disseminated as widely as possible. As we go into this new era, we are watching more closely than ever. I urge you in the most strongest terms to resist and NOT vote in favor of any gun legislation that will infringe on any law abiding citizens right to own, possess or carry weapons to include concealed carry.
SENATOR MURRAY'S REPLY;
Thank you for writing to me regarding limitations on gun ownership. It is good to hear from you.
Like you, I am concerned about the level of violence in this country, and its effect on our families and communities. While legislation to regulate the use of firearms is primarily a state issue, I believe that our national crime-fighting strategy should include reasonable measures to control firearms that strike a balance between reducing street crime and maintaining individuals' rights.
As a U.S. Senator, I have supported common-sense measures to reduce or restrict gun violence while posing the least possible inconvenience to law-abiding gun owners. Please know that if the Senate considers firearms legislation, I will keep your concerns regarding this important issue in mind. If you would like to know more about my work in the Senate, please feel free to sign up for my updates at http://murray.senate.gov/updates. Thank you again for writing, and please keep in touch.
I hope all is well in Vancouver.
MY REBUTTAL;
Not quite the answer I had hoped for. To me is sounds like ....." Well, I hear ya, but I'm going to do what I think is right, but thanks for the e-mail anyway".
