MY LETTER;
I am writing this letter to you so as to inform you as to my concern over the possibility of renewed attacks on the 2nd Amendment. As reaffirmed by the Supreme Court, this right does pertain the the rights of the individual gun owner. As a member of the NRA, we as an organization, watch the voting records of all our elected officials and make sure that the voting records are disseminated as widely as possible. As we go into this new era, we are watching more closely than ever. I urge you in the most strongest terms to resist and NOT vote in favor of any gun legislation that will infringe on any law abiding citizens right to own, possess or carry weapons to include concealed carry.
HIS RESPONSE;
Thank you for contacting me.
I take my responsibility to represent the people who live in Southwest Washington very seriously, which is why I deeply appreciate you taking the time to write to me. Hearing your comments and concerns on the important issues facing our country is important to me as I work to represent you in Congress. I believe that our nation's government is only as strong as the individuals who choose to actively participate in its improvement and am grateful when constituents take the time to contact me.
Please be assured that I do take note of your views and will keep them in mind as I continue to represent Southwest Washington.
Please visit my website at http://www.house.gov/baird where you can find information on my work in Congress and my positions on a variety of policy issues, as well as sign up to receive periodic email updates from me.
Sincerely,
Brian Baird
Member of Congress
MY REBUTTAL TO HIS REPLY;
I think it is entirely possible that this reply from his office is a "canned" response and is sent to every bit of correspondence he gets. However, that being said, I do not like what I feel is the condescending tone it has. In all my attempts to contact this guy, this is all I can get from his office. He has never sent a reply that I felt was the slightest bit personal or had a genuine feeling of concern or regard for my point of view. How he got re-elected is beyond me.......

Sam,
You are correct! This is a canned response from Baird's office. It is very unfortunate that his office does not care enough about this issue to reply to your email directly.
The 2nd Amendment is a treasured right which should be protected by our congress with no compromise.
When career politicians lose touch with the common person you can see it in their responses to serious issues.
Sincerely,
Jon Russell
Washougal City Councilman
