I am writing you about this issue because I believe you and the GOP has the clout to do something about this bill. I am appalled and shocked that this is a Republican sponsored bill. I would think that now, especially after the GOP just took a huge shellacking from the Dems that a bill of this nature would be unthinkable and out of the question. The GOP has to remake itself and a move like this is going to do nothing more than drive more conservatives away from the party. I would imagine that if this bill were to somehow pass, that would be the end of the GOP. Good Conservatives will not tolerate any more messing around with the 2nd Amendment and the GOP would be well advised to leave that issue alone, or risk the complete collapse of the party. I urge all to pull the plug on this Bill.

ASSAULT WEAPONS BAN HR 6257

Here is the text of my letter I sent to Congressman Brian Baird regarding the assault weapons ban. Please feel free to copy and paste it and send it yourself to your Representatives. Assault Weapons Ban Reauthorization Act of 2008 (Introduced in House)

In my opinion, this legislation is flawed and will do nothing to lessen violent crime of any kind. All this bill will accomplish is depriving law-abiding citizens of these types of weapons. The criminals will always have access to them. The voting American public understands what is being attempted by our Representatives who were elected to represent us and who swore to uphold the Constitution of the United States, including the 2^nd Amendment. This bill in no way serves the law-abiding public and appears to be nothing more than a thinly veiled attempt to disarm the public of these so called dangerous assault weapons. As a member of the NRA, a concerned citizen and voter, I urge you to not vote in favor of this bill or any others of this nature.

IRAQ SAYS $80 A BARREL IS REASONABLE......

Here is a story that I really don't understand.............I just to get how the Iraqi's can be allowed to do that when the US and the world is battling these high oil prices and doing everything to keep consumption down. In my little mind, $80 a barrel is WAY too much. The only way we are going to control these prices is to continue to drive slower, drive less and keep the demand down. Congress is already looking at a $1 per gallon tax so people won't be tempted to get back in their so called gas guzzling SUV's. LISTEN UP.......THIS IS FOR REAL FOLKS........I really don't want to have to pay $2-3 a gallon for gas....Do you??

TERRORIST ATTACK IN INDIA

It looks like the cowardly terrorist are rearing their ugly heads again. Initial reports are not encouraging. It is a despicable, heinous, horrendous act and these cowards must be found and brought to justice as soon as possible. In my opinion, these cowards picked these targets because they appeared soft and vulnerable. There are many failures at many levels that lead to this happening. I want all who read this to take note,........NOT ONE TERRORIST ATTACK HAS OCCURRED IN THE UNITED STATES SINCE 911. Why do you think that happened, or should I say didn't? It is because of all the measures that our government put into place after 911. And for the most part, George Bush is the one responsible for taking the affirmative and decisive action needed to protect this country. Plain and simple. If you don't believe it, your just ignorant, or blind to the reality of the matter, period. Anyone who was in the loop, (like I was) knows it for a fact...Done Deal.

THE PRESIDENT ELECT AND HIS "CRACKBERRY" ADDICTION

It looks like our new "President Elect" is hooked on his Blackberry and is trying to wrangle a way of being able to keep it and use it as normal. This guy has no clue as to what "security" is and what kind of security threat the use of such a devise by someone in such high office. The Presidents communications must remain secure at all times...period. In no way can a method of communication be allowed to lead to some sort of security breech, whether it would be the interception of normal conversation or, and most importantly, anything of a classified nature be allowed to be compromised in any manner. These things are not even allowed in the same room where classified briefings are being held. That is by security regulations and policy that are not meant to be violated at ANY time. In my opinion, this guy is a security risk.

RUSSIAN PREDICTS THE FALL OF THE UNITED STATES

AUTO WORKERS WILL GET PAID OVER $30hr TO SIT ON THEIR ASSES???

Now this is just getting completely stupid and out of hand. This is thanks to a 1984 agreement between the auto workers union and the big 3. Now don't get me wrong, I think there is a place for unions. My wifes work had to bring one in just to get protection from the draconian practices of the district manager, but this autoworkers deal is too much for the American public to stomach. In my opinion, the UAW is the reason why the big 3 are not competitive. Too high wages and benefits for the workers. All I can find puts the wages at w/benefits at around $70hr. If that is true, HOLY SHIT............I am speechless. What a gravy train!!!

GUN CONFISCATION AFTER KATRINA

THIS IS MY "RANT OF THE DAY"

You just gotta love freedom of Speech. It really makes it easy to spot the true idiots out in our midst. Every time I see one of these kinds of bumper stickers, all I can think of is..."there goes another idiot, stay clear of that dumb ass". The thing that really puts me on my ear is the fact that allot of the idiots displaying this type of sticker are WAY old enough to know better. Like, in their 60s, 70s and such. Usually, with these kinds of stickers you will find another sticker that bashes GW. Things like, "My dog is smarter than your President" and other such derogatory crap. In my INFORMED opinion, GW was one of the best Presidents I ever had as a Commander and Chief. The other being Ronald Reagan. I have e-mailed the White House and told them that too. All the "Droids" know is what the liberal biased media has told them. They refused to be confused by the truth. There isn't ONE of them that is able or willing to understand that the ONLY reason we have not been attacked again here on our own soil is because of what he did, put into place and enacted after 911. All in all, they make me sick and ashamed of what other countries must be thinking of us right now. We must be the laughing stock of the world right now because of how our political system appears to work........

The contention is, Obama is not naturalized. I have to admit, when I was researching this, it was tough to find. I was amazed to find that most hits were about questioning the eligibility of John McCain. He was born of parents in the military in Panama. Everyone in the military knows that all children born of US military personnel while stationed overseas are automatically US citizens but,.... may also be subject to the host country's laws regarding citizenship too. This depends on the Host/Tenant agreement the US has with each host nation.

THE SECURITY OF THE UNITED STATES AND THE AUTO INDUSTRY

The contribution to the war effort by the big 3 automakers was crucial to the war effort. The Ford Company focused on airplanes and the new 4 wheel drive design called "jeeps". The B-24 bomber was made by Ford at their Willow Run plant. General Motors built all types of tanks , amphibious vehicles, aircraft engines and airplane propellers. The Oldsmobile division of General Motors made artillery shells. The Chrysler Corp. also became well known as a tank builder. All total, the auto industry manufactured about $29 billion dollars worth of products, about 12.5 million shells and almost 6 million guns.
As screwed up as the automakers seem to be, we cannot allow them to fold. Simply put, we need their abilities and talents to keep us free and secure. We cannot become dependent on war materials that are foreign made. The vehicles, guns or planes or whatever else we need must be home grown Nor can we do without their flexibility/ability to quickly retool in order to make whatever other products we may need in a time of war. It's that simple.

I urge you in the most strongest terms to resist and NOT vote in favor of any gun legislation that will infringe on any law abiding citizens right to own, possess or carry weapons to include concealed carry.

A CLOSE CALL

I was all set to sit down in my lonely, dark, dank writers garret and work on this page, however...., that all changed as I pulled into my driveway. There was a neighbor lady walking her dog out in the street in front of my house, and there was a pit bull there harassing her trying to get at her dog. Me being a 29 year retired military cop, I grabbed my Asp baton and proceeded to do everything I could to to fend off the pit bull. The pit charged me several times and I was able to get in a couple of strikes as I dodged it when it was attacking. I was able to get the pit distracted enough to get the lady in my house with her dog and call the authorities. So, anyway, I'm not in the correct frame of mind to be any good at writing now. So I will sit here, in my lounge chair and have a drink and try and calm down for the rest of the night. I'll be back at it tomorrow. Oh, by the way, all you Pit Bull lovers out there...........In my now INFORMED opinion, they are dangerous without any doubt in my mind...........

First, I think that the United States needs to get out of the United Nations. This organization has been a dismal failure in my opinion. IS THE PRESIDENT ELECT DOOMED TO FAIL? OP-ED by SAM

He started his political career in 1997 and today he is the 1^st African-American President (Elect) in U.S. history. If one was to go back and research the topic of race relations and riots, riots and other such confrontations have been going on as far back as at least 1908 when there were many killings in Springfield, Ill. As a kid growing up in that late 50s, 60s and early 70s, the riots in Watts, LA, Detroit, Washington DC, and Chicago are still a vivid memory as they were shown regularly on the evening news. My family would watch the “Huntley-Brinkley Report” as well as Walter Cronkite regularly. The TV would be full of images of the police beating the African-Americans or shooting them with water cannons and dragging them down the streets. The images of Martin Luther King standing up for equal rights for all were inspiring. Tragically, his life was cut short by an assassin’s bullet, but his vision lived on. All in all, I thought it was a very ugly time. Since then, there still have been many trying and difficult times and there have been many obstacles that had to be climbed and overcome. In my opinion, Mr. Obama’s election is a direct result of all those struggles and successes. Now that he has attained the highest office in the land, I have a hard time imagining the amount of expectation that is being heaped on him right now. It’s got to be mind numbing. It just seems to me that no matter how he performs these next 4 years, I can’t see how he is going to come out at the other end smelling like a rose with either party or the citizenry. I think that if he comes from the far left, the political backlash will be so great that the Dem’s will take a beating the next election. The same is true if he goes to the right. If he did that, he would loose his political backing in both houses plus piss everyone off that voted for him. Riding the fence might be his only option. Like I said, this is just my opinion and I am no political scientist so I may be WAY off on all of this.

HILLARY CLINTON'S NOMINATION FOR SECRETARY OF STATE IS NOT A SURE THING

WHAT WILL OBAMA DO WITH THE GITMO DETAINEES?

He has stated publicly that he plans to close Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. What is he going to do with the detainees? Bring them to the U.S.? If he does that, the ACLU will sue to make sure every one of these detainees has a trial in our normal legal system. By doing that, our Intelligence community will be irreparably damaged because our information gathering methods will become public. Will he turn them loose? Do I really need to explain how bad that would be? I think not... Is he going to make sure that there is no kind of pressure will be put on the detainees to in order to get needed info? Yes he is. How are we then going to get any meaningful intel from these hard core scum bags without pressuring them? These guys are hard core and only respond to more "direct" methods of questioning. We ARE at war. We have to do whatever we need to do to get the information that will save lives. Nobody likes the "T" word........However, does anybody else have another method, a better method of getting the critical info from uncooperative prisoners? Plain and simple, they have no rights under the Constitution and should not even be considered for such protection. These are people who conspire and kill innocent women, children and whomever else suits their needs. They want all of us here in America DEAD. That is there goal. We are the infidels and according to their belief, we must all die. Thats the truth of the matter.

HILLARY TO BE SECRETARY OF STATE????!!

As we go into this new era, we are watching more closely than ever. Moscow feels threatened by these missiles and I believe that they are going to talk the Cubans into allowing them to put into place their own anti-ballistic missile system on the island of Cuba. This maneuver will be to gain leverage on the U.S. to force us to not move our missiles into Czechoslovakia. The Russians are pissed that Czechoslovakia has joined NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) because they WERE part of the Soviet Union prior to it's break-up. How is the President Elect going to handle this one?? "Can't we all just get along"?? In a word..... "No".

JOE THE PLUMBER AND HOW THIS EFFECTS YOU

It is now becoming known that about 6 different bureauocratic agencies looked into the background of Joseph Wurzelbacher, aka "Joe the Plumber." These intrusions into his private life were apparently done by DNC operatives who were trying to dig up dirt on him to leak to the media to discredit him. Now, do I have to spell out how bad this is and what this means for the private citizenry of this nation??!!! Okay, here we have a regular guy who just happens to be at the right place at the right time and is afforded the opportunity to ask THE golden question. He had the balls to ask what everyone else wanted to of a Presidential candidate. So he asks his question. Now the Dems didn't like his question so they decide to take action and invade his privacy. They check every record they can to get dirt on him so they can smear him. THESE BACKGROUND CHECKS WERE ILLEGAL AND VIOLATED HIS RIGHTS UNDER THE PROHIBITION OF SUCH SEARCHES WITHOUT ANY LEGAL "PROBABLE CAUSE". There was no legal warrant for these searches because he had done NOTHING illegal. The DNC took it on there own to invade this man's privacy. This was done in violation of the law and the people responsible need to prosecuted under the fullest extent of the law, period. If they (DNC) are given a "pass" on this, then the rest of the "Joe's" in this country need to be warned. They will come for you too if you speak out of turn and say something they don't like. This is a serious violation and needs to treated as such.

THE "FAIRNESS DOCTRIN" AND WHAT THIS MEANS TO YOU

Not many people have ever heard of this. This is a law that requires all radio stations that broadcast conservative talk radio to give the opposing side equal air time so as to "balance" the report. What this will do is effectively shut down talk radio because no one will listen to it and this will drive off sponsors and that will be the end of that. Of course, THAT is what the Democrats want. They want to shut up talk radio so people do not have that resource for truth. They don't want people to know what they are up to. The really scary thing about this is that once the precedence has been set, the 1st Amendment will become severely compromised. What media will they set their sights on next. THE TRUTH ABOUT THE BAILOUT

As we all figured, we were out and out lied to about how the bailout money was going to be spent. None of it has gone to bailout the sub-prime mortgage fiasco like they said it would. As it turns out, the vast majority of the money has already been earmarked for all sorts of special interest stuff. We were told that the sky would fall and the stock market would fail, well it hasn't, but it's not doing well. It keeps falling which I feel that it's a direct reflection of the lack of confidence the public has in the coming Democrat Administration. JOINT CHIEFS OF STAFF CONCERNED ABOUT ATTACKS DURING TRANSITION

The Joint Chiefs of Staff are voicing thier concerns about terrorist attacks during the Presidential transition period. As well they should....... Not to sound like an alarmist or anything like that, but it would be prudent for all families to put together some kind of contingency plan in the event some sort of emergency situation occurs where they live. While I was in the military, I wrote such plans and have written one for my family. IT'S AN OBAMA-NATION

Well, I've had about 24hrs to digest the election results and I am calm enough now to put finger to keyboard and put my thoughts down now that the shock has worn off. First off, I put the blame squarely on the GOP's shoulders for failing and allowing this to happen. They had plenty of time to "get it right". Historically speaking, whomever throws the most money at the election wins. Clearly the GOB was outspent here in my area. It was evident in the number of signs out and the lack of McCain campaign ads on the media. The GOP is going to have to pull together and "find" a message that resonates with the masses. They have to find or make a candidate that is sell-able and not as old as John McCain. In my conversations with many who would not vote for him, they all cite his age as a huge detractor. If the GOP is thinking about Sara Palin, they need to do everything right to make her more palatable to the masses. In all the people I have talked to, they either loved her or hated her. That is not good. They need to rehabilitate her image in such a manner as to be more appealing to a broader base. Secondly, all conservative need to organize and get a plan together that will help get the conservative agenda out there and stand united in the cause. Now that the House and Senate elections have been decided, now is the time for all conservatives to watch all the bills that the Congressmen and Senators are working on and let them know what you think they need to do. We have 2 years to the next congressional and senate races and 4 to the next primary. Lets role our sleeves up and get to work. Click on the title to go to a good congress watch site.

THE IDEA OF PULLING OUT OF IRAQ

I'll make this short and sweet............It is simple, if we leave Iraq and allow it to fall back into tyranny and upheaval, the deaths of ALL our fallen there will be for naught and will have been nullified and in vain. Prior to and after my retirement, I have not talked to 1 person who has deployed there who did not say that we should not be there. PALIN, OBAMA AND SECURITY CLEARANCES

Did you know that Alaska is the only state in the Union that has a PERMANENT active duty Air National Guard Squadron? You ask, What does that have too do with this election? Well here's the deal....The Air Guard Squadron is tasked with the Ballistic Missile Defense System that is in place in the Fairbanks area. Now, as the State of Alaska Commander and Chief, she has had a pretty high security clearance granted to her and she is regularly briefed on the current terrorist threats as well as all other items she would need to know under her scope of responsibility as Governor. Now to Mr. Obama. Due to his dubious and cloudy background, he does not automatically qualify for a security clearance. In order to get a security clearance, he will have to receive some sort of special dispensation from the Joint Personnel Adjudication System (JPAS) in order to be briefed. You ask, "How the hell would you know that"? Well, the last 4 years of my military service, I was a Security Manager and I was responsible for personnels security clearances. I worked within the Adjudication System and know how the awarding of security clearances works without any doubts. In short, he does not qualify for a high level security clearance.

Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent (yes, 44

In the state of Victoria alone, homicides with firearms are

them in, thecriminals did not, and criminals still possess their guns!

It will never happen here? I bet the Aussies said that too!

While figures over the previous 25 years showed a steady
decrease in armed robbery with firearms, this has changed drastically
upward in the past 12 months, since criminals now are guaranteed that
their prey is unarmed.

There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and
assaults of the ELDERLY. Australian politicians are at a loss to
explain how public safety has decreased, after such monumental effort
and expense was expended in successfully ridding Australian society of
guns. The Australian experience and the other historical facts above
prove it.

You won't see this data on the US evening news, or hear
politicians disseminating this information.

Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property
and, yes, gun-control laws adversely affect only the law-abiding
citizens.

Take note my fellow Americans, before it's too late!

The next time someone talks in favor of gun control, please
remind him of this history lesson.

Our Country Is In Peril - My Personal Thoughts and Opinions

It is my opinion that this country is on the verge of moving past the "tipping point" on the road to socialism. The Democrat nominee is the leading liberal in the Senate. He has the most liberal voting record and has a background that is dubious and obscure. He will not clarify anything or produce any definitive documents that would clear up his birth place. At this point he has not had any meetings with the media for weeks and he has "expelled" news people off his plane that he suspected did not support him. He espouses "Change" and "Spread the Wealth". His brand of change is something that is not compatible with democracy this country. In my opinion he is a Marxist, Socialist, and an Anarchist. He wants to change this country to fit his vision, not yours. He wants to take what you have earned and give to to someone who has not worked for it. He wants to make everyone a ward of the state. Dependent on the state for all needs. His brand of "Change" is nothing more that an ultra-liberal agenda consistent with the Democrat party agenda. With him in the Oval Office and a Democrat super majority in the House and Senate, America will undergo changes that will be difficult if not impossible to reverse. Our country will fall into full blown recession, people out of work, more welfare programs than you can shake a stick at and horrendous taxes to pay for it all. I reserve the right to say "I told you so" to all who voted for him when things go to hell after he is elected.

The law suit was thrown out of the Washington State Supreme Court just a few days ago. He will not produce ANY diffinitive evidence that proves that he is an American citizen.
