This is a page dedicated to not being politically correct. I make no apologies. I feel there is way too much of that today. If you are easily offended, do not read this "Blog". It is full of political and social observations and comments. I am in my own way, attempting to educate all who want to know how our government works and how we can regain control so we can remain a government that is "Of The People, By the People, and For the People.
NOTE: I will not respond to or entertain any comments that are rude or disrespectful. Get your FACTS together before you comment then present them in a logical articulate fashion. You should know that I take our Constitution very seriously. It is a most fundamental goal for me as your Senator to work to uphold the rights guaranteed by our founding document. Furthermore, I know that recreational use and collection of guns for hunting, sport, and other activities is extremely important to you and many other law-abiding Washingtonians.
Just as I am committed to protecting Second Amendment rights, I believe you would agree with my long-standing conviction that we must keep guns out of the hands of criminals and children. I believe that our first step in preventing further criminal and youth gun violence should be stricter enforcement of responsible gun laws that punish criminal use of firearms and that make access to guns harder for children and criminals.
As your Senator, you can be assured that I will work to protect the legitimate rights of law-abiding American gun-owners, while continuing to support responsible gun control legislation to reduce crime and make our communities safer. I believe both of these goals are important and can be simultaneously accomplished through common-sense gun laws and stricter enforcement of existing laws.

And One Very Interesting Quote
In light of the present financial crisis, it's interesting to read what Thomas Jefferson said in 1802:
'I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.

Assault Weapons Ban Reauthorization Act of 2008 (Introduced in House)
In my opinion, this legislation is flawed and will do nothing to lessen violent crime of any kind. All this bill will accomplish is depriving law-abiding citizens of these types of weapons. The criminals will always have access to them. The voting American public understands what is being attempted by our Representatives who were elected to represent us and who swore to uphold the Constitution of the United States, including the 2nd Amendment. This bill in no way serves the law-abiding public and appears to be nothing more than a thinly veiled attempt to disarm the public of these so called dangerous assault weapons. As a member of the NRA, a concerned citizen and voter, I urge you to not vote in favor of this bill or any others of this nature.
Like you, I am concerned about the level of violence in this country, and its effect on our families and communities. While legislation to regulate the use of firearms is primarily a state issue, I believe that our national crime-fighting strategy should include reasonable measures to control firearms that strike a balance between reducing street crime and maintaining individuals' rights.
As a U.S. Senator, I have supported common-sense measures to reduce or restrict gun violence while posing the least possible inconvenience to law-abiding gun owners. Please know that if the Senate considers firearms legislation, I will keep your concerns regarding this important issue in mind. MY REBUTTAL;
Not quite the answer I had hoped for. To me is sounds like ....." Well, I hear ya, but I'm going to do what I think is right, but thanks for the e-mail anyway".
Thank you for contacting me to express your views on gun ownership. I appreciate hearing your concerns about gun control and understand how strongly you feel about the right to bear arms.

POLLS
Who listens to polls ? I don’t care.
Because I know this, they are not fair.
The pollsters seek truth, knowledge to gain.
Of issues we know not, they try to explain.
But listen carefully, to what the poll shows.
